The pandemic changes people’s daily routine. Educational institutions and offices are closed, workers being ordered to work from home, and brick and mortar stores closed, have resulted in most people’s lives being swiftly flipped upside down.
We all are being stressed, many people lost ingress to our go-to coping skills. We can not get together with our friends. We can not go to the gym. And we can not do anything that will help us to reduce stress. Researchers have also found that quarantine is a way to rise in mental illness. And during quarantine they may experience:
- Sadness
- Numbness
- Fear
- Insomnia
- Low mood
- Depression
- Anger
- Confusion
- Stress
- Irritability
- Emotional exhaustion
- Emotional disturbance.
Luckily, there are also some things you can take to assemble mental strength and better mental health during quarantine.
Read books
We can do everything on social media life. Our work and even our reading. Everthing is provided on one device is helpful but it is mental voiding. There will be also an effect on your eyes, dry eyes, eye fatigue, and strain.
Reading the books rather than scrolling social media is relaxing. It takes away futile interruption while we swaddle ourselves into the world within the books. Physical books are informative, it bring us back to our childhood.
Exercise
Exercising is the formality for many people. Weight lifting is both mental and physical restorative. But the gyms are closed in this situation. It never means that we have to stop our workout, while you are quarantined go outside for a walk.
Social distance does not mean that you have to close your homes. If you are not able to go outside for a walk, walk inside your home while doing your house chores and other activities. You can also do many exercises at home.
Meditation
The Corona virus caused a lot of anxiety and apprehension. This pressure, if ignored, can be injurious to health. A 15 to 20 minutes deep meditative session will help to keep you relaxed. It will muffle the noise and bring peace around you. It will help you to get better sleep, lower your blood pressure, and also help with memory loss.
Simply you can do meditation by deep breathing. Inhale for 30 seconds and exhale for the same time. You can do this in a quiet environment or play some slow music.
Spend time with family
Many of the people are too busy with their work and they can not give their valuable hours to their family. So, this is the best time to spend with your family or loved ones. Play games, watch movies, do dinner together and share your stories with them that you wanted to do but failed because of your busy routine.
Make your moments special that everyone remembers, it will also help you to keep your mind active.
Express Gratitude
It does not have to be Thanksgiving to be grateful. There are many things to be cherished in the time of fear. You wake up this morning, you have food to eat, you are well at your homes and the main thing is you are alive. These are the simplest things that can put your life into perspective.
Hobbies
When you start doing something you like, your mood automatically will be better. Do the things that you always wanted to do. Try new recipes at home, finish crocheting blankets that are collecting dust or read novels. Your time will pass during quarantine and it will also keep your mind active and fresh.
Watch movies
Watch movies of your choice which keeps you entertained and enjoy this precious time in this way while staying safe at your homes.
All the things mentioned above can tonic your mental and physical health. It is necessary to keep your mind and body busy during these days otherwise your mind and body will be tarnished.
Stay safe and lucid and be sure to wash your hands and wear a mask.
